Learn to Soar in the Alps
Just one hour from Zurich lies one of Switzerland’s most attractive soaring regions. In Mollis, you will learn to fly gliders according to the standards of the Swiss Gliding Association, with direct access to the Alps and their unique flying opportunities.
Thanks to our small size, you benefit from personal instruction and plenty of time in the air. Experienced flight instructors will guide you from your very first training flight through to your glider pilot licence.
Training flights are usually conducted on Saturdays or by individual arrangement. You can start your training at any time during the flying season from March to November. In cooperation with our partner club in Bad Ragaz, we also offer training opportunities during the winter months.

How to Become a Glider Pilot
Training to become a glider pilot consists of both practical and theoretical instruction and typically takes one to two years. You can start training from the age of 14. Your first solo flight may take place from the age of 15, and the glider pilot licence can be obtained from the age of 16.
Practical flying training takes place mainly on weekends. Together with our flight instructors, you will learn the fundamentals of soaring step by step in our modern two-seat training glider. After your first solo flight, you will continue your training in single-seat gliders and gradually gain experience as an independent pilot.
Theoretical training is usually held during the winter months. It covers subjects such as meteorology, navigation, air law, flight planning and aerodynamics, and prepares you for the theoretical examination.
After successfully passing the theory exam and completing the practical training, you will take the practical flight test. Once you have passed, you will receive your glider pilot licence and be able to fly independently.
Costs
You should budget approximately CHF 4,000 to 7,000 to obtain your glider pilot licence. The actual cost depends on your individual progress and the number of flights required during training.
This amount includes membership fees, launch and flying charges, as well as the costs of theoretical instruction and examinations.
