Safety, comfort and independence
Mollis offers ideal conditions for pilots flying self-launching gliders. In recent years, we have invested specifically in infrastructure designed to make flying operations simpler, safer and more comfortable.
The fully paved apron between the hangar and runway, completed in 2025, makes rigging and derigging aircraft considerably easier. At the same time, it provides ample space for staging and preparing multiple aircraft on busy flying days.
At 1,800 metres long and 40 metres wide, the runway is among the most generous in Switzerland and offers an exceptional margin of safety, particularly for self-launchers. Even in demanding conditions, there is plenty of room in reserve.
Another advantage is the location of our hangar directly at the threshold of Runway 01. Long towing and pushing distances are eliminated, allowing you to get airborne quickly and return efficiently to the hangar after landing.
But infrastructure is only part of the story. Mollis is an excellent starting point for cross-country flights in every direction – from the Alps and the Swiss Plateau to southern Germany, Austria and France. Many of our pilots are among the most active cross-country flyers in the region and are always happy to share their experience with others.
After a long flying day, pilots often gather in front of the hangar in the shade of the Glärnisch. Modern workspaces, a kitchen, a workshop, and summer and winter storage facilities complete the infrastructure.
Segelflug Mollis combines high-performance flying with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Safety, mutual support and the enjoyment of soaring are at the heart of everything we do.
